RSVVP Day

Carolina Ale House is a routine participant in RSVVP day.  This annual dine-and-donate raises funds by asking participating restaurants to pledge 10 percent of their gross receipts on RSVVP Day for breakfast, lunch, dinner or take-out meals.  The RSVVP Program began in 1989 with participation by restaurants in Chapel Hill and Carrboro. A year later, when Raleigh and Durham joined the program, it became an annual Triangle-wide event.  RSVVP Day benefits the following organizations:

The Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina works through a network of 870 partner agencies in 34 counties where there are more than 450,000 people at risk of hunger. In 2006-07 the Food Bank distributed over 32.6 million pounds of food from warehouses in Durham, Greenville, Raleigh (main office), Sandhills and Wilmington.  The Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina serves over 75,000 people at risk of hunger in Wake County.  RALEIGH, NC • www.foodbankcenc.org

Urban Ministries of Durham's Community Kitchen is in its 30th year of serving nutritious meals to Durham's hungry people.  In FY 2007-2008, we served over 180,000 meals to over 4,500 different individuals.  Meals are served at no charge three times daily, seven days a week, 365 days per year to anyone in need of a warm nutritious meal.  The Community Kitchen relies on the assistance of thousands of individual volunteers and volunteer groups.  Because of food donations and volunteer support, each meal costs approximately $1.00 to prepare and serve.
